Smart and Connected Soft Bioelectronics for Advancing Human Healthcare

Abstract:  In this talk, Dr. Yeo will discuss the fundamental study in soft materials, flexible mechanics, nanomanufacturing, machine learning, and system packaging to develop nanomembrane-based smart and connected soft electronics. He will also talk about how fundamental science and knowledge can be applied to create various types of wearable soft electronics. Afterward, he will share application examples of wearable soft systems as portable health monitors and machine-interfacing sensors/electronics. Details of a device design, manufacturing, optimization, signal processing, and classification will be shared at high levels.

[cid:image002.jpg@01D72635.36914050]Bio: Dr. Yeo is currently an Assistant Professor (promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in August) in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering and Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Director of the Center for Human-Centric Interfaces and Engineering (Center for HCIE) at Georgia Tech.  Dr. Yeo received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at the University of Washington, Seattle, in 2011. From 2011-2013, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Beckman Institute and Frederick Seitz Materials Research Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Yeo has published over 85 peer-reviewed papers in world-renowned journals, including Nature Materials, Nature Communications, and Nature Machine Intelligence. Since 2014, he has received a total of over $10.5 million in research grants based on his research of nanomembrane electronics and human-machine interfaces.
