Undergraduate NEWS:
CHEM 310 time has just been changed to MW 10:30 am – 11:45 am
MATH 203-005 and recitation 301 is mandatory for BIOE students. Exceptions granted only through your advisor and Dr. Ross.

                  SPRING and SUMMER 22 Graduates: COMMENCEMENT is May 20:
-          CEC Spring/Summer  2022 graduation is now scheduled for MAY 21st, 2022. Our Bioengineering awards ceremony and reception is from 4-6 pm May 21st, 2022. Location: Nguyen Engineering Building, Atrium.
-          IMPORTANT: If you plan to take a course elsewhere in summer (not at Mason) you have to submit a Study Elsewhere form<> to Claudia Borke by April 15th including a statement of why you need this class. Please check your email for more information. If the class is not approved it won’t transfer.
-          Final Exam Schedule:

Biomedical/Computational Research Opportunity in NYC
We are looking for highly motivated Bioengineering students at George Mason University that are genuinely interested in computational/biomedical research to join the Tsankov lab<> at Mount Sinai in New York City. Our lab focuses on using novel single-cell and technologies combined with advanced computational analysis to study cancer, lung regeneration, and respiratory diseases. Inova Summer Student Research Grants
The Office of Research at Inova (ORI) and the Grants Management Office (GMO) is pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for the 2022 Inova Summer Student Research Grants.
Inova-affiliated Investigator Required for Sponsorship: Dr. Mahesh Shenai is a physician in neurosurgery at Inova, a member of our Alliance, and a co-instructor for BENG 314/514. He is willing to sponsor a student with an existing research project that would benefit from funding or to work with an interested student to develop a new research project for funding through the seed grant program at INOVA. Dr. Shenai is also willing to discuss ideas proposed by students.

FDA CDRH Summer 2022 Research Participation Program – ORISE
Participants will have an opportunity to gain a hands-on research experience on a variety of regulatory research projects related to CDRH’s mission. The program is designed for participants to engage with an expert mentor or mentors during the summer to examine a question of interest related to those projects within the placement office.
Application deadline: July 29th, 2022
Participants will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience.

Opportunity to participate in one of a variety of projects to support product development of collagen-based medical devices for orthopedics and sports medicine. Medical Physics Georgetown University “At Home” Volunteer Summer Internships
Students will evaluate new technology to detect holes/cracks in lead aprons used to protect X-ray technicians and patients in a collection of data as well as participate in developing quality program to validate metal detectors used for identifying metal implants in patients prior to MRI.
Minimum qualifications: At least a Junior in undergraduate, MS students are eligible. Must have taken at least two or more lab courses to develop strong understanding of the scientific method and how to accurately and with sufficient detail, record data in a notebook. Must have basic knowledge of biostatistics.

Particle Chemistry Intern –Assist a Senior Chemist doing research and development work in hydrogel particle synthesis and characterization.

Minimum Requirements:  Rising senior or graduate student with at least 2 semesters in Organic Chemistry and 1 semester in Biochemistry. Experience with polymer chemistry synthesis or characterization preferred.
