I don't believe that should make any difference, it'll be the same Java distro and OS.  This looks very much like a Java bug with regard to hardware graphics acceleration.  It's almost certainly not a MASON bug.  But not having a Windows machine, I'm kind of stuck with regard to what's triggering it.
