Thanks for the additional pointer to Terracotta.  I'd found that through
google; but, it seemed to me more oriented toward web applications.
What I did see didn't seem much more powerful than manually building an
RMI based system.

Thanks very much.  I'm not new to distributed (or parallel) simulation.
 But I've only built a couple of small distributed systems in Java
(using JINI).  And I plan to use MASON for these upcoming models; hence
my question to this list.

Excellent!  Thanks.  I doubt I'll end up complying with HLA.  But Globus
does look useful to some extent.
