Rethinking the Origins of American Public Schools, 1776-1861

The purpose of the Brown Bag is to offer faculty and special guests an opportunity to present their research or writings in an informal setting. After a brief introduction by the moderator, the speaker gives a presentation which can vary in format. Some speakers use Power Point, others speak from notes. The topic can be based on a draft or published paper, or a more informal presentation of current research. Presentations should run about 45 minutes, leaving 15 minutes or so for Q&A. Brown Bags start at noon and end at 1 pm.

Prof. Johann Neem of the History Department at Western Washington State University will be giving a talk on THE ORIGINS OF AMERICAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, 1776-1861.  The talk will be given on the Arlington Campus, Founders' Hall,  Room 322. It will also be simulcast to the Fairfax Campus in the Johnson Center, Room 311D. All are welcome.
