Public History Faculty, Full-Time, Tenure-Track, Starting Fall 2012

Public History-Salem State University seeks a dedicated 
scholar-practitioner in public history who is committed to the public 
documentation and interpretation of history. The successful candidate 
will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in public history, oversee 
internships, build partnerships with local communities, assist with 
long-term planning and develop new courses in one of the following 
areas: new media, community-based history, or cultural heritage. 
Demonstrated record of professional practice in public history 
preferred. The successful candidate will also have the ability to teach 
both halves of the department's World History sequence. Ph.D. required 
(Ph.D. in history preferred.) by 9/1/12. Review of applications will 
begin December 12, 2011. Interviews will take place at the American 
Historical Association meeting. Subject to available funding.
