I'm writing to let you know about a late-breaking information session for the Critical Language Scholarship, open to ALL students - undergraduate and graduate, all fields of study (they must be US citizens).  Please pass this message on to any students or colleagues who you think might be interested (or have students who would be interested.)

A program rep from CLS will be there to talk about the program and take questions.  Please encourage interested students to attend and learn more!  Mason has fellowship advising resources to help CLS applicants put forward winning applications.

About the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS)

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is a fully-funded overseas language and cultural immersion program for American undergraduate and graduate students. With the goal of broadening the base of Americans studying and mastering critical languages and building relationships between the people of the United States and other countries, CLS provides opportunities to a diverse range of students from across the United States at every level of language learning.

Most languages offered by the CLS Program do not require applicants to have any experience studying critical languages. The CLS Program seeks participants with diverse interests, and from a wide range of fields of study and career paths, with the purpose of representing the full diversity of the United States. Participants are selected based on their commitment to language learning and plans to apply their language skills to their future academic or professional pursuits. Please note that CLS is an intensive group-based language and cultural enrichment program.

Languages Offered: Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Swahili, Turkish, and Urdu.

Prerequisites:
For Arabic and Persian, one academic year of study prior to summer 2017.
For Chinese, Japanese and Russian, two academic years of study prior to summer 2017.
All other languages accept students at any level, including beginners.
