Dear BIS Students:

The BIS program is a member of the Interdisciplinary Curriculum
Collaborative, which is hosting a large event where Mason's new
President, Ángel Cabrera, will speak on the topic of Global Citizenship
in October. Please take a moment and review the announcement below. It
would be wonderful to have all of you there! Here is the link to the

    Global Citizenship

      Lecture by Mason's New President

/The Hub (SUB II), Ballroom/
October 16, 2012, 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Mason's new president Ángel Cabrera delivers the Moments of Truth
Lecture. The annual lecture is an initiative of the Interdisciplinary
Curriculum Collaborative of the College of Humanities and Social
Sciences. The lecture is followed by a question and answer session and
reception.

Dr. Cabrera's book, co-authored with Gregory Unruh, addresses the role
of a leader in the global economy. Bob Dudley, CEO of British Petroleum,
says the text has "the mind-set to work across the world---with all of
its ambiguities---requires real personal passion. /Being Global: How to
Think, Act and Lead in a Transformed World/ captures that spirit by
describing the art and the effort of listening, thinking, and acting to
make a real difference in this complex world. This is a book for anyone
developing his or her own passion for going global."

Dr. Cabrera chaired the United Nations task force that created the
"Principles for Responsible Management of Education" and served as the
chairperson of the Global Agenda Council for The World Economic Forum.

Cultural Studies, Higher Education, Honors College, MAIS, New Century
College, Women and Gender Studies)/.

The Moments of Truth Program is an initiative of the College of
Humanities and Social Sciences' Interdisciplinary Curriculum
Collaborative (ICC). The ICC includes the following academic units:
Bachelor of Individualized Studies, Cultural Studies, the Higher
Education Program, the Honors College, Master of Arts in
Interdisciplinary Studies, New Century College, and Women and Gender
Studies. These programs have identified the subject of ethics as a
unifying theme, while recognizing that questions and issues of ethics
permeate every academic discipline, major, and
