Rancho Biosciences is a fee-for-service life sciences company leveraging open source tools and public domain data to provide knowledge and value for Pharma and Foundations. We are based in San Diego and we are looking for a data integration specialist located in the Washington DC area on a consultancy basis that will grow in to a full time position.

Data Integration position
Education requirements:
A PhD in Bioinformatics, Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Sciences or related field with 2 - 5 years of experience with hands-on bioinformatics or data curation/integration projects. Degrees in Physics and Mathematics may be considered if work experience can demonstrate sufficient experience with biological projects.

Experience requirements:
Proficiency in analyzing biological data of different formats and scripting in a variety of programming languages (such as Perl, R, Matlab, Python, C, C++, C#, Java, SQL, Pascal, HTML, VHDL, or assembly)
Experience with NGS data analysis
Experience in working with multiple operating systems
Track record of relevant publications, references, presentations
Experience with data mining and data organization
Experience with public data sources, such as PubMed, NCBI, TCGA, CCLE and others. Documented ability (for example, a project that has been completed by applicant) to find, load, process and use relevant scientific information

Genetic Data Curator
Education requirements:
An MD or PhD in Biology, Genetics, Clinical Sciences or a related field; MS degree is acceptable with at least 5 years of work experience.

Experience requirements:
Expertise in the field of specialization as demonstrated by a trail of relevant presentations, publications, conference talks, etc
Experience with data mining and data organization
Authorship of scientific publications and presentations
Understanding of genetic models, statistics
Experience with public data sources, such as PubMed, dbSNP, ClinVar and others. Documented ability (for example, a project that has been completed by applicant) to find, understand, load, process and use relevant scientific information - specifically, data about gene variants, documented usage of genome browsers
