Government Careers Week is coming up the week of September 12-16! Are you passionate about public service or interested in a career in federal, state, or local agencies? Starting September 12 all students are invited to join Mason Career Services for a week of in-person and virtual workshops to learn more about what it takes to pursue a career in government. Government Careers Week covers topics like how to write a federal resume, working on Capitol Hill, finding fellowships, and more! Get the details at go.gmu.edu/GovernmentWeek and see attached flyer.

Monday, September 12

Exploring Government Careers – Johnson Center, Room E
Any Mason degree can lead to a successful career in public service. Learn how to identify the career options in government based on your education, interest, and skills.
Tuesday, September 13
12pm:
Intro to Security Clearances – Johnson Center, Room E
Are you considering a career either in the government or with an organization that does business with the government? If so, there is a good chance that you will need a security clearance to access classified information to be able to actually do your job!
Learn about the steps you will have to go through to obtain a clearance and what you can begin doing now to make the process easier down the road. This event is part of the Clearance Ready Program and also part of University Career Services Government Careers
Week.

Writing Your Federal Resume Workshop – Virtual
Are you planning on applying to a job within the federal government? If so, you'll need to submit a federal style resume. Learn from experts about how to optimally build your federal style resume so that you can maximize your chances of obtaining an interview.
Wednesday, September 14
6pm:
Careers in Intelligence – Research Hall, Room 163
The Intelligence Community works on issues of national security and foreign policy. Hear from representatives from a number of agencies about their hiring needs, how you can prepare, and tips for being successful in the application process.
Thursday, September 15
5pm:
Careers on Capitol Hill Alumni Panel – Virtual
Learn from Mason alumni working for members of Congress, lobbying firms, and other policy makers about the nature of their positions, how they got to where they are, how their work differs from other types of federal service, and much more. Presented by the
Mason Alumni Association.
Friday, September 16
1pm:
Finding Graduate Fellowships – Virtual
Come and learn about the Presidential Management Fellowship, Rangel International Affairs Program, and additional funding sources that can support your academic and professional goals as a Mason graduate student. This event is presented in collaboration with
the Office of Fellowships!
