I wanted to remind you that the Institute for a Sustainable Earth is offering the inaugural Sustainability Summer Fellowship for Research Partnerships this coming summer, and there are many opportunities that your graduate advisees might find interesting. All of the fellowship opportunities are described on the ISE website, and all applications are due by February 15 to the ISE Handshake site. Fellowship awards of $8,000 are available for doctoral students, $6,000 for masters students.
This fellowship is centered on research partnerships that we have developed with a range of organizations, including the Sierra Club (researching on air pollution and environmental justice), the Woodrow Wilson Center (global environmental change and security), Virginia Clinicians for Climate Action (on heat-related illness), and Future Earth (remote sensing, global systems science), among others. More information about the specific fellowship opportunities can be found in the attached PDF,
It’s important to note that students will be able to bring their own ideas to these research opportunities as they work with partners/sponsors. It’s an invaluable opportunity for students to network and begin to do impactful research that can be integrated into their thesis or dissertation. A short letter of support from an applicant’s academic advisor is required with the application.
Please share this opportunity with your graduate students and/or colleagues. I’d be happy to answer any questions leading up to the deadline, Tuesday February 15.
Thanks,
Jeremy
