Good afternoon all,

This coming Saturday is a Parents Weekend event titled “Mason by Moonlight”. We will be welcoming about 350 first-year students, their parents, and some alumni to the university, where they will receive tours and experiences within the College of Science, College of Visual & Performing Arts, and the College of Engineering & Computing.

My office, the Office of Diversity, Outreach, and Inclusive Learning has teamed up with Undergraduate Student Services and Advancement to help make this event great! But we know that the true stars of our College are our Faculty! You have such an important role in helping to shape our students as the continue onto their paths of greatness. We would love it if you would be willing to come out and participate as well.

This could be an opportunity to talk about your research, meet some of the families that have entrusted their students minds into your care, and generally participate in the Mason Nation community.

The event is Saturday October 16th from 6:30pm-9pm. I recognize that this is not during our normal hours, and that my ask is taking you away from your family and loved ones. But I hope you take a moment to think how impactful it would be to attend your own children or nieces/nephews or siblings special showcase weekend and get a chance to see the people and things that make them excited to learn every day. Many of our students are First Generation and their parents don’t have a frame of reference around engineering or computing. This is our opportunity to show them the wonder that can be found in our discipline and help connect dreams to reality.

If you are interested in participating, please fill out this form: https://forms.office.com/r/4YJgLTrqMU

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me or my team (copied).

Thanks so much and hope to see you there!

Kindest regards,
