All,

Research performance continues to recover slowly from COVID impacts.

Expenditures:  Overall trends are encouraging. We had the best performance since June 2020 with $61.4M for the rolling 12-month period from May 2020 through April 2021. This compares with $69.0M for May 2019 through April 2020. BENG and the Dean's office set records. C4I&Cyber had its best performance since April 2020. CN3 had its best performance since we started tracking it. CARE had its best performance since January 2020. CSIS had its best performance since last July. Our young CYSE Department has had $185K in expenditures since we started tracking them last September. ECE had its best performance since January 2020.

Awards: At $69.2M, awards are up from $51.1M in April 2020 but still well short of our record $90.1M set in April 2019. ECE and SEOR both set records. CYSE has accumulated $1.1M in awards since we started tracking it last September.

Proposals: Proposals, at $157.2M, were the second highest level since April 2020. C4I&Cyber, at $5.4M, was at its highest level since April 2020.

Indirect: Indirect set a record with $7.3M. RPRC set a record with $2.1M.

Regards.
