HIVE is the bioinformatics tool used by the FDA to research and evaluate clinical trials and another research, and GWU maintains the only operational clone of this platform. There are several projects in our group, the flagship project is BioCompute, which aims to standardize the communication of bioinformatic workflows. An instance of a workflow written in the BioCompute format is called a BioCompute Object (BCO).
