Visit our website for more info https://chr.gmu.edu/programming/; —we will host a virtual discussion with Spencer Crew, Robinson Professor and Director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, as part of a celebration honoring his enormous contributions to Mason, April 14th, 4-6m; this event will also kick-off Hindsights 2020: Reflections on Slavery, Reparations and Restorative Justice, an initiative spearheaded by Stefan Wheelock and others; —we will host a panel discussion that will showcase the responses of humanities faculty to the pandemic and 2020 more broadly, featuring Andrew Peterson on the pandemic (Philosophy); Tehama M Lopez Bunyasi on Black Lives Matter (Carter School); Meredith Lair on teaching the election (History/Art History); and RRCHNM’s Pandemic Religion Project — date TBA; —we look forward to our first workshop for undergraduates, a 3 or 4 part session on "What is Humanities Research?" Faculty members will engage in discussions with undergraduates about what humanities research is, why it matters, how we do it, how students can engage in their own research, as well as how the crucial and marketable these humanities research skills for a vast range of careers.
