Dear Mason PhD Students,

Join the Southern Association for Women Historians (SAWH) on Thursday, Oct. 15, for the first in a new series of Zoom sessions offered by the SAWH Professional Development Committee. All are welcome, but the SAWH’s primary focus is on women’s history and the history of the U.S. South, as well as support for all women historians in any field who live in the South.

“Let’s Talk: SAWH Mentoring in Action”

This is not your ordinary virtual happy hour gathering. Grab a beverage of choice and join us for a fun and informative chat about a variety of topics that will interest graduate students, young professionals, and seasoned historians alike. Through informal discussions that will contribute to the existing SAWH Mentoring Toolkit, the SAWH Professional Development Committee is committed to offering professional support and a space to nurture collegiality during these challenging times.

When: October 15, 5:30pm Eastern

Topic: “Identifying Mentors and Fostering a Productive Mentor/Mentee Relationship”

Jane Turner Censer (Emeritus Faculty at George Mason University; Former President of SAWH and the Southern Historical Association)
