The Office of Visitor and Guest Services at the National Museum of African American History and Culture is expanding to build a dynamic and diverse team! Visitor Services Coordinators must be enthusiastic, customer-oriented and have a passion for African American history and culture. They will help support our day to day programs and activities, as well as learn about new products, services and guidance for visitor services programs, volunteer management and visitor research to gain a better understanding of the visitor experience. Coordinators will assist visitors with wayfinding, demonstrate interactives and immersion experiences, schedule tours and group reservations, and collect visitor feedback to measure visitor satisfaction and develop new approaches to our daily operations.


Applicants should have either one full year of previous experience at a historical or cultural organization, one full year of related graduate level education or a combination of experience and education, including volunteer positions. They must possess the following qualifications: excellent customer service; skill in delivering visitor programs and services in a museum, education center, cultural or historical site, or similar facility which receives large numbers of visitors; ability to facilitate volunteer training; experience collecting information in response to inquiries, requests and comments; knowledge of African American history and culture; and the ability to answer questions about difficult and complex topics related to museum content.
