Dear MS EE and MS CPE Students,
I hope all of you are having a good start to your semester!
All student advising for this fall will be conducted electronically via email, phone, Webex, or other electronic platforms. There will be no scheduled in-person advising. Do not use the campus advising scheduler to schedule advising appointments.
Please follow the instructions below for receiving remote advising.
To request advising support: Each Master's student in the ECE department is assigned a faculty advisor. You were notified last week via email about who your assigned advisor is for this semester. If at any point you lose this information, you may email the ECE department at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> to request the information to be resent to you.
Although we expect the majority of advising to be conducted via email, depending on the advisor's preference, one-one meetings may be scheduled with the advisor via phone, Webex, <https://its.gmu.edu/service/webex/> or similar platforms on a case-by-case basis. In some cases, in-person meetings may also be held if mutually agreed upon with your advisor, following GMU's safety guidelines.
As a first step, email your advisor (from your GMU account) with any advising needs. Make sure you include your full name and G number. Be aware some responses may take one business day or more, depending on the nature of the advising request, or the volume of advising emails.
If you need guidance on registration for spring 2021 classes, create a course schedule (include first and second choice courses) once the schedule is published on Patriotweb and email it to your advisor for review. Please be very specific in your email about your questions or advising needs.
If you are uncertain of what requirements you need to complete, use Degree Works<https://registrar.gmu.edu/students/degree-evaluation/degree-works/> in Patriot Web. It is a "virtual advisor" that will show you what requirements are missing from your degree plan.
