The Office of Fellowships is excited to announce two NEW summer Learning Communities (LCs) for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Each LC is limited to 25 student participants to ensure robust engagement and discussion. There is a very short application. The application links are listed below.

The application will remain open until Wednesday, July 8th at 5pm. All applicants will be notified by July 9th at 5pm if they have been accepted into the cohort.

Due to the high demand for interest in these topics, please only apply to one LC this summer. We hope to offer more opportunities for engagement in the next academic year.

Logistics and Benefits of Participation:

  1. Four, 90-minute virtual meetings in July and early August
  2. Opportunity to learn more about how nationally competitive fellowships can support students' academic and professional goals
  3. Develop relationships with other students interested in similar topics
  4. Opportunity to reflect on students' own leadership styles and beliefs. Develop more confidence in their leadership abilities.
  5. Get a head start on achieving your academic and career goals this summer in a safe and fun environment.

Participant Expectations:
  1. Attendance at each session 
  2. Full and active participation in the cohort, including completing all readings and brief assignments
  3. Be willing and open to discuss new ideas and different opinions in a safe and civil learning environment


Women's Leadership Learning Community
Meeting Dates: July 14, 21, 28, and August 4th, 3-4:30pm EDT

The Women’s Leadership Learning Community is an opportunity for rising sophomores through senior students identifying as women to engage in virtual group discussions and developmental activities that build important leadership skills for students in all majors. We will discuss issues such as dealing with imposter syndrome, perfectionism, and identifying and interrupting bias in academic and workplace contexts, among other topics.

The Women’s Leadership Learning Community is an opportunity for rising sophomores through senior students identifying as women to engage in virtual group discussions and developmental activities that build important leadership skills for students in all majors. Public Service Leadership Learning Community
Meeting Dates: July 16, 23, 30, and August 6th, 3-4:30pm EDT

This Learning Community is designed to bring students together to spend focused time examining the qualities and characteristics that public service leaders need to be successful in serving their communities. Through readings, online presentations, and discussions, we will address topics such as foundational models of 21st century public service leadership, leadership and social justice, creating an organizational culture that affirms multiple identities, bias interruption, and alignment of personal and professional values, among other topics.
