ATTENTION:

MASON STUDENT SERVICES CENTER: Starting March 9th this Center (bottom floor of SUB I) will manage all walk-in traffic for the Registrar’s office. This includes transactions such as transcript pick-up, specialized verifications, and form/document drop-offs.

 

GRADUATING SPEECH AUDITION:  VSE Degree Celebration Speaker Search – Are you a graduating Mason senior who would like to speak at the Spring 2020 VSE Degree Celebration?  Check out the DC Speaker 2020 attachment to sign up and audition.

 

FRESHMEN and SOPHOMORE: STARTING Fall 2020, BENG 320 will be a prerequisite for BENG 330/331. Students who plan on taking BENG 230 in fall or spring please open the attached new Fall 2020 curricula. Adjust your schedule, email Claudia Borke if you have questions or see her for advising.

STUDY ELSEWHERE FORMS:

Taking Summer Courses away from Mason? Please fill out a STUDY ELSEWHERE form at your earliest convenience. No class credit without prior approval. The form must include a valid reason of why you can’t take the class at Mason. Unfortunately, financial circumstances won’t be accepted. Deadline at my office April 15th.

 

BENG 417 – BIOENGINEERING WORLD HEALTH:

BENG 417 is a fall lecture with an abroad experience over winter break in Guatemala and counts as a BIOE technical elective. Students live in home stays and work at remote hospitals paired with students from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Please email Claudia Borke if you are interested in this course and would like to be added to the interest list. See flyer for more info.

Scholarships

SREB – State Doctoral Scholars Program https://www.sreb.org/types-awards
The SREB-State Doctoral Scholars Program offers two awards to students who are pursuing Ph.D.s and plan to become college and university professors. 

Doctoral Award - three years of direct program support and two years of institutional support from the scholar’s college, university and/or department, in the form of a $20,000 annual stipend.

Dissertation Award - one-year, $20,000 stipend, university-covered tuition and fees (unless the institution prohibits a fee waiver), a $500 research allowance and professional development support.

Application materials will be available beginning January 10, 2020. The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. EST on March 31.
