Subject: THESIS/DISSERTATION SIGNATURE PROCESS

Good Morning,

Sally Evans and I have been working through some ideas for the thesis/dissertation signature sheet process.  We have come up with the following options and none impact the library submission deadline of May 1^st by 5:00 PM.

• The student defends at their scheduled time and obtains as many signatures as possible during the defense.  The rest of the signatures are obtained as committee members are available, even after the May 1st deadline if necessary.
• Digital signatures are allowed as long as the signature looks like an actual signature.
• Sign and scan – one round of scanning is fine.  With each additional scan, the signature sheet tends to look gray and the library will not accept.

I am the point of contact for the dean’s signature.  If the student has obtained all committee and department signatures and I am not available, the signature sheet can be left in my mailbox in James Buchanan Hall, room D201.  I will obtain the dean’s signature and delivery the signature sheet to Sally Evans.

This process also includes Embargo Request forms.
