Subject: A Message From NISS

Dear NISS Affiliate,

I am writing on behalf of the National Institute of Statistical Sciences and as a member of the program affiliates committee.  I want to alert you to the virtual (Zoom meeting) Live Career Fairs that NISS began providing last year.  Each Live Career Fair features a panel of experienced experts working in different types of businesses or government agencies.  The experts talk about their career journey and take questions from the viewers.  They discuss challenges and they offer tips for succeeding in similar types of positions.  The Career Fairs provide an ideal way for students to sample what it is like to work as a statistician or data scientist in different environments.

The next Live Career Fair is the 3rd Industry Career Fair, and it will take place on February 19, 2020 and will go from 12-1:15 pm ET (9-10:15 am PT).  The current plan for the panel of experts includes representatives from Amazon, AT&T, Medtronic, and RAND.  As the department chair and/or the primary liaison to NISS at your institution, would you please publicize this career fair to all of your graduate and undergraduate students, including interns and students in fields related to statistics and/or data science)?  You might consider organizing a common meeting place at your institution to view the event.  Please note that (free) advance registration is necessary to join the Zoom meeting room, and registration details can be found at

In order to make sure I have reached you with this message, could you please reply to me acknowledging you received it?  To be sure we have not missed you, I would like to otherwise try to reach you on the phone to say hello.
