I-SEC Students:

The Spring 2020 schedule of classes is now viewable on PatriotWeb. Registration will begin on November 5th. To determine your individual registration time, please check PatriotWeb <https://patriotweb.gmu.edu/> under "Registration Status and Time Ticket, Override Notification, Wait List Position". We encourage you to check the schedule of classes frequently on PatriotWeb as the schedule may change. Also, courses without an assigned instructor are likely to be, but not guaranteed to be, offered in the upcoming semester.

Please make a note the following information:

  * As of Fall 2019, the I-SEC degree requirements have changed - see degree worksheet here (https://schar.gmu.edu/sites/default/files/current-students/Courses/ISEC-Fall-2019.pdf). If you were admitted before fall 2019, this does not affect you. However, if you would like to find out if you are eligible to switch to the new catalog year, please schedule an appointment with me as soon as possible. The switch is not automatic and it will require paperwork.
  * To enroll in POGO 511 students must first pass a screening exam. Information about this is at http://schar.gmu.edu/511.
  * For those of you who have been in the program for a few years, please recall that two original I-SEC core courses have been renumbered. Grand Strategy has changed from PUBP 771 to PUBP 504. Ethics and the Use of Force has changed from PUBP 738 to PUBP 506. If you took these courses with the original numbers, do not retake them under the new numbers. As a reminder, PUBP 505 was listed in Spring 2016 as 'PUBP 710 - Prac & Thry Pub Pol for Secur'. If you took that course in Spring 2016, do not take PUBP 505.
  * POGO 550, 750 and PUBP 710 are general elective numbers that can be taken multiple times with different topics. Different PUBP 710/POGO 750 courses fall into different I-SEC area requirements (aka buckets) and concentrations. Please let me know if you have questions about this.
  * Attached to this email is a list of course options with the relevant core courses, area requirement courses (aka 'buckets') and concentrations broken out
  * Students are encouraged to review the options under the BIOD, GOVT, ITRN, POGO, PUAD, and PUBP headings for other elective choices. Students should consult with an advisor with any questions about elective eligibility.
  * Course syllabi will be posted on the Schar School syllabi page<http://schar.gmu.edu/current-students/course-syllabi-and-schedule/course-syllabi/> as they become available. If a syllabus is not yet posted, please review previous semesters' syllabi to get an idea of class requirements or contact the teaching faculty directly<https://schar.gmu.edu/about/faculty-directory> to inquire
  * All non-Schar courses will have to be pre-approved by your academic advisor before registering.
  * The complete academic calendar and billing dates can be found on the Registrar's website<http://registrar.gmu.edu/calendars/>.
Please note the following important wait list procedures:

* Students will be sent e-mails (to their Mason e-mail accounts) when waitlist overrides are issued. Students will not be able to waitlist for a course if the following apply:

  1. They are already registered for another section of the same course.
  2. They are already on a waitlist for another section of the same course
*
* For more information please visit the Registrar's Waitlist Information<https://registrar.gmu.edu/topics/waitlists/> page.
