We are searching for students to perform research for a DARPA-sponsored project whose goals are to use analog signals to detect malware in systems. This opportunity is for the summer 2019 with a possible option of continuing during the Academic Year 2019-2020

The machine learning component of the problem consists of subjecting such signals to Anomaly Detection procedures capable of identifying anomalies when compared to a baseline of mostly normal behavior. The signals can be noisy and that adds a challenging complication to the problem. We have developed some algorithms and software to perform the initial detection and de-noising, but a lot of challenges lie ahead which includes experiments using diverse computing platforms and noise conditions. Candidates must have some understanding of machine learning (having taken CS 584 or 484 at a minimum or equivalent class).

We are looking to fill these positions as soon as possible.  Please email a resume to [log in to unmask] by May 15 for consideration.
