Beyond Mason

 

·         The Baltimore Sun: Mason professor emeritus George Donohue (Volgenau) op-eds on opposition to new taxes in Anne Arundel.

 

·         Virginia Business: Micron Technology Inc., plans to expand its semiconductor plant significantly, and the city of Manassas will work closely with major educational institutions, including Mason, to ensure graduates are qualified and technically-skilled for the company’s jobs.

·         His career plan? Invest in himself. Alexei Sothoron has two undergraduate degrees from Mason, including one with a double major. Now he's going for his master's.

 

·         Mason enrolling more women in engineering and computer science fields, report shows. In a recently released report, 253 public colleges and universities were surveyed for the percentage of women who earned undergraduate degrees during the 2016–17 school year. Mason was ranked 31st in engineering and 127th in computer science, according to the most recent data.

March 8 CASBBI, 1 p.m., Krasnow Institute Room 229. The Center for Adaptive Systems for Brain-Body Interactions (CASBBI), led by Siddhartha Sikdar (bioengineering), Jim Thompson (psychology), and Lynn Gerber (health administration and policy), has been selected for base funding by a team led by the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President S. David Wu. This group meets weekly. Pizza and coffee are provided.

 

April 16 – 5:30 - 8:30 p.m., Dewberry Hall. Sixth Annual Volgenau School of Engineering Undergraduate Research Celebration. Volgenau School of Engineering students will showcase their research and scholarship for the school and university community.
