  *   Mason Engineering students plan clean water project in Ecuador.<> Several members of Mason’s chapter of Engineers for International Development<> (EfID) flew to San Pablo de Amali for a week in January to assess the agricultural area’s current water system and find a way to improve it.

February 7 – CASBBI, 1:00 pm, ENGR 4705. The Center for Adaptive Systems for Brain-Body Interactions (CASBBI), led by Siddhartha Sikdar (bioengineering), Jim Thompson (psychology), and Lynn Gerber (health administration and policy), has been selected for base funding by a team led by the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President S. David Wu. This group meets weekly.

February 11 – Using Analytics, Experimentation, & Technology Accelerators to Help First Responders, 2:00 pm, ENGR 4705. Speaker Dr. Daniel Maxwell, president of KaDSci, LLC.

February 18-22 – Engineers Week. Highlights include:

  *   Monday noon - 1:00 pm, Atrium – Join Dean Ball for the kickoff. Enjoy pizza afterward.
  *   Tuesday 3:00 - 4:00 pm, Research Hall 163 – Listen to guest speaker Thomas Gardner, a digital enabler.
  *   Friday 1:30 pm, Jajodia Auditorium – Attend the awards ceremony and see who wins the cup and the 60-Second Video Contest.

This and That

Be vigilant and be aware. Many people have received emails from others claiming that someone has hacked into their computers and recorded their use of sexually explicit sites. This is a scam and is addressed in a recent publication from SANS, a security training company, at Contact Jonathan Goldman if you have any questions.
