SUMMER CLASSES AT HOME: Are you considering taking a class or two at home. Please fill out a STUDY ELSEWHERE form at your earliest convenience. No class credit without prior approval. Deadline at my office April 15th.

Gowns for Grads - lends commencement regalia to students that are unable to purchase their own cap and gown.  The Spring 2019 Gowns for Grads application is now open. REU at VCU for Bioengineers | Deadline February 15th, 2019| Undergrad| Summer 2019

Announcing 10 undergraduate student openings for a 10 week Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates centered in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond,VA. Students will work on biomedical engineering research projects under the supervision of faculty. Research projects will involve experimental and computational approaches to mechanobiology in the areas indicated below. Students will participate in a weekly meeting where research ethics and mechanobiology techniques will be presented. Students will be required to participate in one outreach activity to K-12 student or teachers during the summer. Students will also present their own research findings at the end of the summer This program is sponsored by the VCU College of Engineering and the NSF.

Competitive stipends will be offered plus on-campus housing will be covered if needed. The program will run for 10 weeks beginning May 28th, 2019.

Research Experience  2019 CNF CTECH KEP PARADIM REU| Deadline 8pm February 13th ,2019| Undergrad

During the summer of 2019,  Cornell NanoScale Science & Technology Facility (CNF), Center for Transportation, Environment & Community Health (CTECH), Keeping the Ezra Promise (KEP), and Platform for the Accelerated Realization, Analysis, and Discovery of Interface Materials (PARADIM) -- will sponsor Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) programs. Engineering and science students with broad interests across disciplines focusing on nanotechnology are eligible to apply (see restrictions and eligibility requirements below) to the CNF, KEP and PARADIM Programs. Participants receive a $5,000 stipend, plus housing and reasonable travel expenses. More information:

Mason Conversation Partners | Deadline February 14th ,2019

Are you looking for ways to get more involved this semester? I invite you to sign up for Mason Conversation Partners where you will be paired with an INTO Mason international student. This is an opportunity for you to gain communication and cross cultural skills while being a mentor to this student as you help them practice English and show them Mason culture. We ask that you meet with your partner once a week for at least one hour. If you are interested please sign up by Thursday February 14. You will be emailed the following week with your partner assignments. There will also be a Kick Off Event on Monday February 18 as an opportunity to meet your partner and everyone else participating in the program. Let me know if you have any questions.

Penn State's College of Engineering and the College of Health and Human Development are offering the Penn State Summer Translational Cardiovascular Science Institute (STCSI), sponsored by the American Heart Association. 3MT® is a research communication competition where PhD students present their doctoral research to a non-specialist audience using only one single visual aid—all in three minutes. This exercise encourages graduate students to think about their research from an outsider’s perspective, hones their presentation skills, and provides a forum for a cross-disciplinary exchange of exciting ideas and information. 1st Place=$1000, 2nd place=$750, 3rd place=$500
