Subject: 3MT competition for students in PhD programs

Dear Colleagues,

Please encourage your PhD students completing dissertations to enroll themselves in the 3MT competition for this year. Registration opens Nov. 2 and only the first 50 students will be able to compete. See for full details.

Last year, the first-place winner of this university competition was Daniel Shore, a student in psychology. Let's make sure that CHSS is well represented this year again. This is also a great opportunity for your dissertation students to hone their skills presenting their work, which they will also need to do for future employers.

What is 3MT(r)?

3MT(r) is a research communication competition where PhD students present their doctoral research to a non-specialist audience using only one single visual aid-all in three minutes. This exercise encourages graduate students to think about their research from an outsider's perspective, hones their presentation skills, and provides a forum for a cross-disciplinary exchange of exciting ideas and information.
Please distribute as appropriate.
