Critical Language Scholarship Program ON CAMPUS – Please share with interested students.

Information Session open to all students with CLS program representative: Monday, Oct. 1, 1-2 pm, JC 239A

Calling all Mason students with international research and career interests!

A representative from the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) will be on campus for an info session on Monday, October 1st from 1-2pm in JC 239A.

The CLS program is funded through the U.S. Department of State and supports intensive summer study of critical languages overseas. A list of critical languages supported is on the CLS website. This is a prestigious and highly selective fellowship that supports students who are committed to becoming fluent in a critical language. The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students in all fields of study.  Must be a US citizen to apply.

The following languages are offered:  Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Swahili, Turkish, and Urdu.

Dr. Kay Agoston is the campus advisor for graduate students. Dr. LaNitra Berger is the campus advisor for undergraduates.

If you are interested in the program, please review the website and the eligibility requirements CAREFULLY online. Almost all of the information you need to begin an application is located on the website. Please note that the deadline is in mid-November, so you should review the information quickly and decide if you are going to apply.

Please plan to attend Monday’s information session for an opportunity to meet and ask questions of a CLS Program Representative.

If you cannot attend, CLS has a pre-recorded informational presentation on its website:
