Good Afternoon!
In an effort to remain proactive, I’d like to ask that you please respond to this message at your earliest convenience and let me know
if you are anticipating advancing to candidacy during the summer or fall 2018 semester so that I can ensure that everything is in order and your advancement packet is submitted well ahead
of time.
As a reminder, a doctoral student officially becomes a PhD candidate on successful completion of
ALL degree requirements, to include all required coursework, all minor and major field examinations, and approved dissertation prospectus (in other words, everything
except the dissertation).
Students can find all relevant forms (needed for their advancement packets) that require faculty signatures for minor and major field exams, dissertation committee approval, and dissertation prospectus approval
on the departmental website:

If you’re unsure as to whether you’re ready to advance or not, please don’t hesitate to set up an advising appointment with Dr. Lebovic ([log in to unmask]).
Thanks so much!
Emily
