Apply now for a one-year professional development opportunity (includes two all-expenses-paid workshops) in the rapidly emerging area of multi-, inter-, and trans-disciplinary team problem-solving and research. These forms of cross-disciplinary inquiry can produce innovative, integrated breakthroughs and solutions that transcend individual disciplines, and are essential to solving today's grand societal challenges in coastal and marine environments such as enhancing coastal resilience to sea level rise, flooding, storms and other climate change impacts.

Coastal Resilience Post-Graduate Fellowship

Virginia Sea Grant and Clark Nexsen are now soliciting applications for the Coastal Resilience Post-Graduate Fellowship. This 12-month paid fellowship is intended to provide educational and professional development opportunities for post-graduates interested in becoming leaders in innovative, pre-disaster, resiliency design strategies. The selected fellow will receive on-the-job training related to resilient design or coastal flooding adaptation strategies focused on Hampton Roads.

Ocean Acidification Graduate Research Fellowship
Application Deadline: April 13, 2018


The Mid-Atlantic Sea Grant Programs, in partnership with the NOAA Ocean Acidification Program, are pleased to announce the availability of Ocean Acidification Graduate Research Fellowships for the two-year period covering the 2018 and 2019 academic years. The fellowship is open to full-time graduate students at any academic institution in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Virginia who are engaged in coastal and marine research relevant to regional ocean, coastal, and estuarine acidification.

Summer science writing and multimedia internships will soon be advertised at vaseagrant.org These opportunities provide an undergraduate, recently graduated or graduate student with training in science communication, and will allow him or her to initiate new writing or video/photography projects, as they tell the story of how Virginia Sea Grant brokers science to community stakeholders. The internship offers students opportunities to develop interviewing, analysis, reporting, pitching, writing and shooting skills.
