Subject: paid internship positions for military history students

Dear Professor -

I'm writing because the Society for Military History identified your department as having military history graduate students, and you're either listed as the point of contact or are the closest thing I could find. If I've reached you in error, please pass this along to a more appropriate colleague.

In mid-March, two paid internships in military history will be announced through USA Jobs. These are not academic positions; students wanting a career in academia will probably not be interested. They are developmental positions designed to take someone with historical skills and, under supervision, have them do various tasks that Army historians have to do to prepare them for a career as an Army historian.  These internships are part of a program that makes the individuals selected eligible for the next vacancies for historians (of the appropriate grade) in the Army. One of the positions will be in Washington DC and one in San Antonio TX.

If you have students who are interested, they should register with USAjobs.gov and set up a search for 0170 positions.  They can also contact me with questions. The positions are likely to be open for only 3-5 days, so preparing now is in their interest.

Sincerely,
Sanders Marble
