Greetings, and welcome to Spring 2018!

University Dissertation & Thesis Services (UDTS) is here to assist Mason's Master's and Doctoral students who are writing theses and dissertations. We perform Format Reviews, accept final copies of theses and dissertations, and upload materials to our Institutional Repository, MARS

If you are writing a thesis or dissertation and you are planning to graduate in Spring 2018, please be aware of the following extremely important deadlines:

Format Review Deadline: In order to be eligible to graduate in Spring 2018, you must receive an email from our office on or by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27 stating that your formatting is in good shape, and your Format Review is over. If you do not receive said email from our office on or by that date/time, then you will not be eligible to graduate in Spring 2018.

Final Submission Deadline: In order to be eligible to graduate in Spring 2018, you must turn in the final copy of your thesis/dissertation and all necessary paperwork to our office on or by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4. If we do not receive these materials on or by that date/time, then you will not be eligible to graduate in Spring 2018.

When we refer to the "final copy" of your thesis/dissertation, we mean the version of your document that fulfills all three of the following criteria:

  1. You have passed the Format Review.
  2. You have successfully defended (if a defense is part of your program).
  3. Your committee has approved your content.

Once you have fulfilled all three of those criteria, you will be ready to turn in the final copy of your document to our office.

Among our resources, we offer workshops. Our Process workshop walks you through the steps you need to complete in order to format your document, submit it, and graduate on time. Our Interactive Template workshop introduces you to the Word document we created in an effort to make formatting your document easier. It is set up according to University Formatting Guidelines

To sign up for any of our workshops, please visit the following site:

There, choose "Dissertation & Thesis Services" under "Category." You'll then be able to view our upcoming workshops and sign up for as many as you wish.

If you have any questions or need any further information, please contact us:

We look forward to working with you, and we wish you a successful Spring 2018 Semester.

Thank you,

Sally
