Subject: The Three-Minute Thesis competition: a great opportunity for CHSS PhD students

Good morning,

For the second year, Mason is taking part in the Three-Minute Thesis (3MT)<https://provost.gmu.edu/academics-and-research/graduate-education/mason-graduate-interdisciplinary-conference/3mt%C2%AE> competition. Open to PhD students in all disciplines, it is an innovative way for students to hone their presentation skills and communicate their research to audiences outside their areas of expertise.

In a nutshell:

  *   It is open to all PhD students;
  *   The participants present their research to a general audience using only one visual aid and within a three-minute time limit;
  *   There are cash prizes;
  * Registration, now open, closes on February 16. It is limited to the first 40 applicants.

I encourage you and your doctoral students to learn more about the competition and about the Mason Graduate Interdisciplinary Conference (MGIC)<https://provost.gmu.edu/academics-and-research/graduate-education/mason-graduate-interdisciplinary-conference> that takes place on April 7, 2018.

Any questions? I'd be happy to help!

My best,
Anne
