NASPAA is gearing up for the 2018 Student Simulation Competition. Next week, we are hosting a panel titled "Global Pandemics and Crisis Management in the 2018 NASPAA-Batten Simulation Competition -and the MPA/MPP Curriculum" during the annual conference. As you might be aware, the topic for next year's competition pertains to global health security and pandemic crisis management. A team of experts in the field, who are assisting with the development of the competition, will convene to discuss both the epidemiological and policy dimensions of the simulation. The experts will also offer their insights into adapting global health security, a topic that typically resonates with those in the public health sphere, to policy and administration curriculum.

The experts are as follows:

* Ambassador Jack Chow, Distinguished Service Professor, Washington D.C. Heinz College School of Information Systems and Public Policy<http://www.heinz.cmu.edu/faculty-and-research/faculty-profiles/faculty-details/index.aspx?faculty_id=21>

* Dr. Gregory Koblentz, Biodefense Graduate Program Director, George Mason University Schar School of Policy and Government<https://schar.gmu.edu/about/faculty-directory/gregory-koblentz>

* Dr. Jamechia Hoyle, Coordinator, Next Generation Global Health Security Network<http://ghsanextgen.wixsite.com/home/leadership>

* Dr. Gavin Macgregor-Skinner, Senior Global Health Security Advisor, Abt Associates<http://abtassociates.com/About-Us/Our-People/Associates/Gavin-Macgregor-Skinner.aspx>

This will be an opportunity for you to gain insights into the simulation competition and learn about a topic that is fairly unique in the realm of public policy and administration. Additionally, this panel will provide you information on the simulation topic that can be shared with students who are interested in participating in the upcoming competition.

The panel will take place on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 1:45 to 2:45 PM at the Hyatt Regency Hotel (400 New Jersey Ave NW, Washington, DC 20001) in the Congressional B Room (Lobby Level).

We hope to see you at next week's panel. If have any questions about this panel or the simulation competition in general, please e-mail us at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
