Position Description:

Under the supervision of the DXC Federal Health Care (FHC) leadership team, the graduate intern students will work part-time during the academic year (~29 hours per week) and full-time during the summer. This hands-on position will be responsible for assisting across multiple program areas including building healthcare solutions, business analysis, healthcare informatics, finance, business planning and other areas to support the FHC account team.

 

Graduate Student Project: Upon mutual agreement between DXC Federal Health Care and George Mason University academic unit, the graduate student intern will be permitted to incorporate their work at DXC Federal Health Care for master’s thesis, master’s research project, or doctoral dissertation.

 

Duration: The internship is anticipated to conclude upon completion of graduate degree

 

Location: The headquarters are located in Reston, Virginia

 

Travel: This internship could include up to 10% travel outside of the DC Metropolitan area

 

Salary: Competitive hourly salary

 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Acting as a member of an existing project team within DXC, work with the team to achieve organizational objectives in healthcare.
  • Assists the project team in expanding our capabilities in healthcare informatics from a technical perspective and developing documentation of system specifications. Develops codes, tests, and debugs computer programs from specifications
  • Ideate and build solutions and presentations for FHC clients as a member of the team
  • Assists in designing and implementing new methods, procedures, and systems (both automated and manual) to improve the processing and flow of analytic information for the healthcare clients. 
  • Gathers information from users for analysis of technical problem areas and prepares elementary feasibility studies, strategic road maps and business planning activities. 
  • Assists in the analysis and development of white papers and position papers on healthcare related topics to support the FHC business objectives. 
  • Assists the project team in expanding our capabilities in healthcare informatics from a technical perspective and developing documentation of system specifications. Develops codes, tests, and debugs computer programs from specifications
  • Develop business planning and finance support collateral

Qualifications


Basic Qualifications 

  • Currently working toward a Graduate degree (or global equivalent) 
  • Degree program in healthcare informatics, computer science, management information systems, business administration or science related field preferred 
  • Zero or more years of technology-related work experience 
  • Experience with system development or system analysis preferred 
  • Seeking graduate degree in healthcare analytics or health / business science.
  • Experience working with relevant programming languages i.e., Java, MIMPS, operating systems, hardware, and software preferred.
  • Fluent in MS Suite of work products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) 


Other Qualifications 

  • Basic interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members 
  • Basic communication skills 
  • Basic analytical and problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of programs
