It's like walking out of an air-conditioned building in 100° weather, shocked by a blast of heat and humidity. (I admit that this may not be the best analogy on a windy, rainy day like today.) On Friday the campus was deserted and today it is teeming. There are confused drivers on Patriot Circle, full parking lots, packed sidewalks, and long lines at Starbucks. As I walk around the building, there are lost students struggling to find the right classroom. Some are trying to find the right building, which might be on the other side of campus. I also see people that I haven't seen in weeks. Some I know, others are just familiar faces from prior semesters, whose names and programs I may never learn. In a week or two it will all seem normal again. Guo started working at Mason a few years after her husband, who is currently an associate professor of statistics at the Volgenau School of Engineering.
