Making of an American (1912) Alice Guy Blache's story of an immigrant and how American men teach him to respect women. 
Eleanor's Catch (1916) The story of a female cop's last case with a feminist twist
A Florida Enchantment (1914) A gender-bending comedy from 1914 with surprising LGBTQ overtones.
 
Thursday, December 8
7:30 pm – 9 pm, JC Cinema
Join us for a panel discussion: Harridans, Hoydens and Heroines: How Women Transformed Early American Cinema. MAIS/FAVS student Robert Farr will be showing examples of pre-feminist silent cinema prior to the discussion with film historian/curator Dr. Kimberly Tomadjoglou, GMU History PhD candidate Nate Sleeter and Dr. Rachel Lewis of GMU Women & Gender Studies.
