Subject: Postdoctoral Position Optimization and datamining @ Inria Lille &
University of Lille 1

Postdoctoral Position
Optimization and datamining

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position at CRIStAL
laboratory (www.cristal.univ-lille1.fr<http://www.cristal.univ-lille1.fr/>)
within the ANR project ClinMine (www.cristal.univ-lille1.fr/clinmine <
http://www.cristal.univ-lille1.fr/clinmine>). This will be a one-year
appointment.

Location: Lille-Villeneuve d'Ascq (France)
Laboratory: CRIStAL, Université Lille 1 (Common research team with Inria)
Type of contract: 12 months contract
Starting: 01/04/2016 (to be discussed)
Salary: From 32 000 € to 37 000 € per year regarding experience (between
1500 € and 1750 € / month).
Contact: Clarisse Dhaenens ([log in to unmask] <mailto:
[log in to unmask]>)

Context
The ClinMine project (ANR TECSAN 2014-2017 -
http://www.cristal.univ-lille.fr/Clinmine <
http://www.cristal.univ-lille.fr/Clinmine>) brings together six partners
(academic, hospital and company). It aims to develop innovative methods to
analyze, from data available in hospitals, typologies of patient
trajectories. A general approach is proposed, then different 'case-studies'
are studied in order to validate the approach. The final product will be to
develop a functional software platform, based on open license products.

Description
The candidate will join the Dolphin <
https://www.cristal.univ-lille.fr/?rubrique27&eid=8> team, common research
team with lille 1 university, CNRS and Inria, in order to develop methods
hybridizing optimization methods and statistical approaches. Indeed, the
problems relating to this partner, as part of the ANR project, concern the
implementation of a prediction engine to identify patient profiles through
classification, clustering, bi-clustering and the identification of
prediction rules. Several optimization approaches are being finalized, and
we wish now to hybridize these approaches with statistical approaches to
refine the obtained profiles.

Profile
The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and creative individual with a
PhD in Operations Research, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Computer
Science, or a related discipline completed by December 2015.
Expertise in one or more of optimization software and scientific computing
languages such as C/C++ or R is desirable.

Application
Interested candidates should send the following material to Pr Clarisse
Dhaenens ([log in to unmask]<mailto:
[log in to unmask]>):
-    A cover letter outlining their experience and qualifications as they
relate to this position,
-    CV that includes a list of publications,
-    One or two research papers,
-    the contact details (name, email, telephone) of two or three
individuals willing to supply confidential reference letters.
Review of applications begins immediately and will continue until the
position is filled.

The PhD positions are fully funded (EU fees and stipend for 4 years) and
include some conference travel support. One is associated with Lero in the
domain of Genetic Programming for Search-based Software Engineering. The
second is associated with the Applications of Evolutionary Design project
funded by Science Foundation Ireland. Applications for the PhD posts can be
emailed directly to myself (please include a cv and one page letter of
motivation).

All posts are based in our group in Dublin and open to start immeadiately
so please apply early. For additional details on any of the opportunities
