Hello colleagues, and happy fall!

I hope the semester is going well for all of you. I wanted to forward the latest issue of the Graduate Student Life newsletter to you to highlight a few upcoming events and opportunities that are aimed at promoting graduate students’ academic success and well-being. We would appreciate your assistance with forwarding news of these opportunities to your students.

In particular, I’d like to point your attention to these opportunities, all listed in more detail below:
•        PROV 601 seminar, “Thriving in Graduate School: Fostering Graduate Student Success,” application deadline is Oct. 22. This seminar, offered in the spring, is aimed at master’s students and early-stage doctoral students.
•        Graduate student career workshop on Strengths-Based Interviewing on Oct. 23
•        Workshop on Managing Personal Relationships during Graduate School on Oct. 30
•        Graduate Student Life Write-In Day on Nov. 14; deadline to sign up is Nov. 2
•        Grad ReCon (aka Graduate Student Research Connections Day), a new joint effort between Mason Libraries and Graduate Student Life featuring a day of workshops aimed at promoting research, writing, and productivity, on Nov. 6

Registration Now Open for the Graduate Student Life Write-In Day!

Registration is now open for the Graduate Student Life Write-In Day on Saturday, November 14, 2015. The Write-In Day provides an atmosphere for group accountability and a space to write with other Mason graduate students who are also serious about getting writing done. Graduate Student Life will provide the space, coffee, meals, and snacks.

You need to bring your computer, any other necessary materials, and most importantly, your personal commitment to working diligently and productively. Registration will close on Monday, November 2, at noon. Register now!<>

Thrive in Your Graduate Program with PROV 601
The Center for Teaching and Faculty Excellence offers PROV 601, "Thriving in Your Graduate Program: Fostering Graduate Student Success," every spring for beginning doctoral and master's students. This seminar helps students explore the opportunities and challenges of grad school and identify ways to prepare now for your career and professional goals. The application deadline is Oct. 22, 2015. Managing Personal Relationships During Grad School Workshop
Being a graduate student can be stressful in terms of adjusting to academic expectations, managing the work load, and balancing school with other work commitments.
