Projects on Study Abroad

Engaging in a marketing-related project is one of the great benefits of working as a marketing intern for the Center for Global Education. This week, two of our interns are asking for your assisstance.

Valerie Rovira: Reasons for Not Studying Abroad

The first project is a survey in several parts that requires a mere half hour of your attention. The survey has been conceived by Valerie Rovira, a Communications senior, and will be conducted by the Center for Global Education.

The following survey is from Mason Study Abroad. It is meant to gain a better understanding of the reasons students do not study abroad. There are three sections to this survey: a multiple choice, Likert scale, and short answer. The survey should take between 25-30 minutes. Please answer all the questions to the best of your ability.

Survey will be closed on November 9, 2015 at 12pm.

About Valerie

Valerie is a Mason senior working on a degree in Communications, who has studied abroad twice through Mason Study Abroad. A lover of all things Italy, her first trip happened just a semester after transferring to Mason from NOVA, when she participated in the Milan: Media, Culture, and Society program. And most recently, she has returned from participating in the Florence Semester, and is already hoping to find her way back to Europe!

Alyxe Perry: Why Study Abroad Video Project

The second project was initiated by Alyxe Perry, an Anthropology major from upstate New York. She is looking for candidates in a film project that does not require a hugh investment of your time either. Feel free to contact her below with any questions you might have.

Dear Reader,

My name is Alyxe Perry. I am a Marketing Intern at Mason Study Abroad. This semester I am working on a video titled “Why Study Abroad?” I am looking for students who are eager to tell their stories during in a casual interview setting.

The interview itself will run approximately 20 minutes. You can prepare for it by providing short answers to the following questions:

  • Where and when did you study abroad?
  • What specifically made you chose that program?
  • How did Mason support you through the process?
  • What were some of the highlights of your trip?
  • If you could sum up the entire experience using a few words, what would they be?
  • From the beginning to the end of the trip do you think you changed as a person? If so how?
  • What if anything has been different since you have returned home?
  • Have there been positive changes in your life because of your experience?
  • If you could say something to a student unsure about studying abroad what would you say to them?

The interview itself will be videotaped and later on edited.

“Why Study Abroad?” Schedule

  • Monday October 19: 2:15 to 4:15pm
  • Wednesday October 14: 2:15 to 4:15pm
