BIS 40th Anniversary Reception 2015

The Bachelor of Individualized Study (BIS) Program is pleased to be hosting a reception to celebrate its 40th Anniversary. Director, Dr. Kenneth Thompson, will share the story of the program’s first 40 years. Live music, heavy hors d'oeuvres, and a cash bar
will be the backdrop for celebrating the program with your fellow alumni and other BIS supporters.

Sidewalk Closures, October 14 – 23 - Fairfax Campus
Beginning Wednesday, October 14 through Friday, October 23 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, Espina Paving will be on the
Fairfax Campus to repair multiple areas of broken/damaged sidewalks and curbs. Sidewalks in the following areas will be impacted during these repairs:
· Aquia Creek
· EagleBank Arena
· Facilities Administration buildings
· Mattaponi River Lane
· Quad behind East, West, Krug, and Finley buildings
· Rivanna River Way
· Shenandoah Neighborhood
· Shenandoah River Lane
· The Commons

Leadership Mason Conference

Registration Deadline: **Extended 5pm on Tuesday, October 20th**.
Location: Fairfax Campus, The Hub, Ballroom
A one-day program focusing on leadership skill development through large group and small workshop

According to the 2015 Nonprofit Employment Practices Survey Results, the non-profit sector is now the third largest employer in the United States with nearly 2 million nonprofit organizations employing 10.7 million people. As the economy continues to recover,
and charitable giving continues to rise it can be expected that the nonprofit sector will continue to grow as well. Learn what it takes to be successful in this growing career field from employers in the Non-Profit sector and hear about what they did to thrive
in their first 90 days on the job.

Brown Bag Series: Civic Engagement, Social Justice, and Moving beyond the Individual Level in Facilitating Well-Being

In this brown bag, Dr. Cattaneo will discuss the ways that her research program integrates wellbeing beyond the level of the individual. Through a continuing focus on social justice, and through specific projects at the intersection of teaching and scholarship,
Dr. Cattaneo’s lab is exploring the ways in which higher education can contribute to the wellbeing of communities.
