Event: Welcome Week Reception

The event is open to all BIS students. All are invited to stop by to chat with BIS advising staff, instructors and the director. We will have portable food, meaning snacks that you can take with you on the road or to your next class. We hope to see you there.

Have you gotten your parking permit?

Parking permits for the 2015-2016 school year will go on sale starting on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 ONLINE ONLY. Zimride members can purchase their parking permits online starting Monday, July 20, 2015 (to register for Zimride go to For those purchasing parking permits with Mason Money, checks or cash in person, permit sales begin August 14, 2015. Any permits purchased “in person” will still be fulfilled by mail. We will have a limited number of reserved Mason Pond, Shenandoah, Rappahannock River, Founders Hall, Lot I, Lot J, Lot R parking permits and Arlington General permits available online on a first come, first served basis.

Part-Time Job Fair

Last Day to Add/Drop Classes for Fall 2015 Semester

Students are responsible for attending all classes for which they are registered. Please keep in mind that if you choose not to attend a class it will NOT be dropped, you must drop the course in Patriot Web.

Need to Brush Up on Good Study and Note Taking Skills?

Event: Note Taking
Dates: September 8, 2015 from 10:30 am to 11:45 am (Fall Semster)
January 26, 2016 from 10:30 am to 11:45 am (Spring Semester)
Location: Fairfax Campus, Student Union Building I, CAPS Group Room A and B

Note taking is an essential study strategy. Notes supplement memory and can be used to create review guides prior to exams. During this workshop, participants will learn strategies for listening, writing notes, and reviewing afterwards.

Paid Research Opportunity

The Office of Student Scholarship, Creative Activities, and Research (OSCAR) has coordinated with the Office of Student Financial Aid in order to allow students to use their federal work-study funds for positions as undergraduate research assistants for faculty at George Mason University. The goal of this initiative is to expand opportunities for students to be introduced to the concept of scholarship, and to learn the research or scholarly methods in their field.

New Password Management Feature Makes It Easier to reset Passwords

There is a new feature on the Password Management website that maskes it easier to reset your password. You may now add a non-Mason, alternate email to yout account to confirm your identity and reset your password. You must activate this feature before you use it.
