Subject: Instant HR/Payroll: Graduation Day Child Care Canceled, Open Enrollment Drop In Sessions, Moving & Relocation Resources, and Faculty/Staff Book Scholarship

Canceled: Graduation Day Babysitting for Faculty and Staff

We did not receive any registrations for free child care for the Spring Commencement Ceremony by the extended deadline of 5:00pm on 5/6.  To help with staffing and planning, this pilot program required pre-registration; drop-in services were not available.  As a result, free child care for faculty and staff will not be available at the Child Development Center for spring commencement.  The university remains committed to providing this service and plans to offer it again in the future.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact HR & Payroll’s Life/Work Connections at 703-993-2600 or [log in to unmask].

Health and Flex Open Enrollment Runs through May 22

Reminder: Open enrollment drop-in sessions began this week.  If your faculty and staff have questions regarding Health and Flex open enrollment, please encourage them to stop by one of the sessions which will be held on all three campuses.  For the schedule, please visit the Benefits homepage.

Moving and Relocation

If you have new faculty and staff relocating from out-of-town, please share our relocation page with them.  Since summer is peak time for moves, it’s a good idea for them to reach out sooner, rather than later, to arrange a date for their household goods move.  They are not under any obligation to use the Mason contracted vendors; however, if they choose to use another moving company, please advise them to review the guidance on the Fiscal Services’ Move and Relocate site

The life/work connections team is available to assist your relocating faculty and staff with resource and referral information.  Think of them as your relocating faculty and staff’s “on the ground” resource; they are happy to track down the answer to any questions you or they have.

Reminder: Faculty/Staff Book Scholarship Applications

Mason is again offering a competitive $250 book scholarship created with the $25,000 endowment received from TIAA-CREF's 2010 Raise the Rate contest. The application deadline is Monday, June 15 and applying is easy. For details, please visit the Faculty/Staff Book Scholarship FAQ and the Faculty/Staff Book Scholarship Application.
