Two Summer Student Assistant positions available Summer Student Research Assistant positions will be available for summer 2015. The successful applicants will work at the client's site in Washington, DC. Partial financial support will be provided for the local travel from GMU to DC The client is developing a new data management system which is intended to automate data validation, upload, and update; facilitate collaboration and information sharing across the agency; improve data integrity by reducing errors in data entry and processing; facilitate succession planning; and provide numerous other efficiencies that are increasingly critical in a resource-strained environment. The tasks will include programming business rules and procedures used by the system; developing user manuals and documentation of the data; creating customized applications as necessary for accessing data and creating reports; and training individuals to become proficient and self-sufficient in the routine use of the system. Required technical skills are experiences with relational database management systems, the Structured Query Language (SQL), stored procedure and C#. Good communication skill including document writing is also required. Understanding of Microsoft SQL Server, Excel, Excel Power Pivot, Tableau, and/or SAS are also helpful. Compensation is based on qualification and experience. The duration is for the full summer (13 weeks). The waged summer position may be extended to a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) in the following academic year.
