This course will provide an overview of the form, function, purpose, and general capabilities ofBritish and American Intelligence Communities. We will focus on how each organization helps its policymakers make informed national security decisions and how each has succeeded and failed in supporting national security and British-American interests.

Public Relations in Germany and Austria

Explore the field of Public Relations in Vienna and Munich with a month long 6-credit course! This program begins in Vienna, Austria and visits Germany for several days. Students will be taught seminar style and touch on topics such as intercultural communication, global public relations and public relations in Austria and Germany. They will interact with their international peers and also visit renown PR agencies in Munich and Vienna.

Italian Media and Society in Milan

Dates: July 4-August 1, 2015

Earn 6 credits while exploring the beautiful culture of Milan in Italy!

During this four-week study abroad course, students will travel to Milan, Italy and immerse themselves in Italian media and cinema to consider how it interrelates to culture and society as they experience it. Students attend lectures given in English by Italian faculty from the University of Milan on specific topics and then visit related sights in Italy. In-class course work is supplemented with tours to several other Italian cities where participants will learn about and experience Intercultural Communication, Renaissance Art, Fashion, Architecture, Commerce, and the Performing Arts. Assessment is determined by written exercises, daily journal entries, in-class discussions, quizzes, and a final project focusing on the student's particular area of study.

Exploring Cuba: Past, Present, and Future

Dates: May 23-June 20, 2015

Earn 6 credits while gaining an amazing opportunity to experience Cuban culture!

This study abroad program will allow students the possibility to explore Cuba in a moment of transition. Cuba’s unique political and economic history has long made it the subject of intense intellectual debate. The recent announcement of a “normalization” of relations between the U.S. and Cuba have Cubans, along with the rest of the world, creating expectations about what changes the future will bring, making this a particularly fascinating moment to travel to the island. Through study of Cuba’s geography, history, politics, and cultural production, students will discover what makes this Caribbean island so unique. The program is centered in the city of Havana, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, and will also include travel to other cultural patrimony sites. The program will be conducted in English. Knowledge of Spanish is useful, but not required.
