Subject: Instant HR/Payroll: Bi-Weekly Timesheets Due, Dining Hours Through January, Cafe Rio Discount, and more!
Winter Break Reminder for Bi-Weekly Faculty/Staff
If you are paid bi-weekly, please get your timesheets in on time and preferably before we leave for Winter Break. Our dedicated Payroll team is coming in over the break to ensure that your paycheck arrives
correct and on time. Please help them by submitting and approving timesheets as soon as possible. Timesheets are due no later than noon on Sunday, December 28. Approval is due on Monday, December 29 and the processing begins on December 29 at 10:00am. The
bi-weekly pay date is Friday, January 2, 2015.
Dining Hours During Winter Break and January
As we’re winding down to Winter Break, we wanted to share the
Mason Dining schedule for when we return in January. Check the schedule before venturing out in the January weather!
Remember there are faculty/staff dining plans available; see
Mason Dining BYTE Plans for details. Faculty and staff in Arlington and Prince William receive a 10% discount at dining venues on those campuses when using Mason Money. Details on the
same page.
Save January 30th for Hike to Ike’s. Discounted fare on that day. Details in the
End-of-Year Newsletter. The newsletter went out via email to all Mason employees on December 12 but we like to find additional opportunities to share the tremendous array of information contained in it. Please encourage your faculty and staff to review
it. There’s also an opportunity to be entered into a prize drawing for friending/following us by January, 9, 2015.
Café Rio Discount and More!
With your Mason ID, faculty, staff, students, and retirees receive 50% off on the first Wednesday of every month from January to June 2015 at four Café Rio locations. For details, please see the
Café Rio flyer.
Visit the
life/work connections discount page for other opportunities to save.
Prize Request: Quality of Work Life Survey
Every three years, the Quality of Work Life Task Force sends out a survey to all faculty and staff about working at Mason. It provides tremendous feedback on work/life
at the university. It's slated to go out
in April 2015 and the survey will be open a good bit of the month.
As in 2012, the Task Force plans to hold a voluntary prize raffle in 2015 with a random drawing of prizes generously donated from around the university. To that end,
we welcome donations. New in 2015, we are inviting Mason faculty or staff members who have written books to consider contributing a signed copy to the effort. To make a departmental or book donation, please email
[log in to unmask] with the details.
Thank you so much for your consideration of this request!
Additional information on the Quality of Work Life Survey is available at

Faculty Retirement Readiness
Are you 9 or 12 month faculty and thinking about retiring in about 5 years? Do you need information? Let us assist you as you plan ahead. We are providing a retirement readiness
pilot program starting in February, which includes: an online retirement readiness assessment, two individual coaching sessions with a certified retirement coach and two informative pre-retirement seminars. Past participants report that the program is helpful
on a range of retirement readiness topics. For more information, please contact Kathy Haldeman at
