Subject: Spring '15 hiring

Dear Dr. Kierner,

St. Mary’s College of Maryland is looking for an advanced graduate student or newly-minted Ph.D. in Colonial/early American history to teach two undergraduate courses in the spring 2015 semester.  St. Mary's is a small public honors college (enrollment around 1800) located in a beautiful setting approximately seventy miles south of Washington, D.C.

The person we are looking to hire will teach two courses: our 200-level Atlantic World survey and our 300-level course on the American Revolution.  I’ve arranged the teaching schedule for this person so that she/he would teach both classes on Monday and Wednesday (at 2:40 and at 6:00 – each class runs for one hour and fifty minutes with a break in the middle).  Additionally, the class sizes are small (capped at 22 and 18 respectively).  This could be a great way for a talented graduate student to gain some valuable teaching experience.  Here is the link to our departmental website: http://www.smcm.edu/history/.

I would be grateful if you could share this information with your fellow colonial historians and graduate students.  Should anyone have any questions, I invite them to email me ([log in to unmask]) or call my cell: 301-904-7745.

Sincerely,

Chuck Holden
