We are asking for your help in promoting our study abroad programs - with an emphasis on the winter break programs as the October 3 deadline is quickly approaching. Please find below a brief overview of the wide selection of study abroad opportunities we offer at the Center for Global Education<http://globaled.gmu.edu/index.html?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty&utm_campaign=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty> and three testimonials based on our own, personal experience. We look forward to your support. Best regards, Nicole Ryals, Weyem Kobrosly, Dalila Sanabria Social Media Team, Center for Global Education Short-term Programs Winter Break Study Abroad Programs<http://globaled.gmu.edu/programs/facultyled/winterstudy/index.html?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty&utm_campaign=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty> are two-week long programs that are faculty-led. Students receive academic credit and partake in cultural excursions. Students may choose between major specific programs or intensive language and cultural studies. I attended lectures led by regional businessmen who spoke about the impact of culture on business. Although I learned some Italian, I learned more about traditions, gestures and daily life. Aside from classes, I had the opportunity to explore castles, hike through Pompeii and marvel at the Sistine Chapel along with many other historic places. – Nicole Ryals, Summer Semester in Rome Semester Programs Direct Exchange Programs<http://globaled.gmu.edu/programs/directexchanges/index.html?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty&utm_campaign=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty> are based on a agreement between Mason and a foreign university to exchange an equal number of students each semester while each given student pays for their respective home tuition (this is great for in-state students). Direct Enrollment Programs <http://globaled.gmu.edu/programs/semester/index.html?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty&utm_campaign=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty#direct-enrollment> are good for out-of-state students. The student pays tuition to that university directly, which is often less than out-of-state Mason tuition. Faculty-led Semester Programs to Oxford and Florence<http://globaled.gmu.edu/programs/semester/index.html?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty&utm_campaign=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty#faculty-led-semester> are great options to spend several months abroad while earning credit and receiving grades that count towards a student's GPA. The Oxford Semester program is currenly celebrating its 20th anniversary. Our CGE coordinator matches students to internships<http://globaled.gmu.edu/programs/internships/index.html?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty&utm_campaign=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty> in their field of study. Students can receive 6-15 credits. CGE offers international internship opportunities during the summer and during both spring and fall semester. I developed a different perspective of social, regional and global issues based on a new understanding of historical implications. I can wholeheartedly say that my semester abroad was crucial to my education as a business student and global citizen. – Weyem Kobrosly, Direct Exchange Yonsei University Spring Break Programs The majority of the spring break programs<http://globaled.gmu.edu/programs/springbreak/index.html?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty&utm_campaign=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty> are leisure with an emphasis on cultural exploration. This semester, we are offering an exciting spring break experience in Costa Rica<http://globaled.gmu.edu/programs/springbreak/costa-rica/index.html?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty&utm_campaign=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty> and a great tour through Ireland<http://globaled.gmu.edu/programs/springbreak/ireland/index.html?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty&utm_campaign=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty>, traveling eastward from Galway to Dublin. CGE also offers one credit-bearing spring break program: European Sports Model in the Netherlands for sports management. [http://globaled.gmu.edu/email/fa14/fa14-study-abroad/media/dalila.jpg] The spring break program in Southern France Rivera to Barcelona was the first time I traveled independently, although intimidating at first, I was able to make many friends throughout that process, explore cities with unique cultural characteristics, and experience authentic regional cuisine. The program inspired me to study abroad at King's College in London, England for International Summer School where I will take classes to receive 6 credits for my business minor. – Dalila Sanabria, Spring Break 2014, France and Spain [CGE]<http://globaled.gmu.edu/index.html?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty&utm_campaign=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty> George Mason University Center for Global Education Johnson Center, Room 235 4400 University Drive, MS 2B8 Fairfax, VA 22030 voice fax email 703.993.2154 703.993.2153 [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> Click here to unsubscribe<http://globaled.gmu.edu/listserv/unsubscribe.html?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty&utm_campaign=FA14-Letter-to-Faculty>
