Spring Semester in Florence

January 7- April 30, 2015

Led by George Mason University Associate Professor Cathy Wright , this study abroad program is open to any undergraduate student who has earned 45 semester credit hours (sophomore, junior or senior standing) by January 2015, including non-Mason undergraduate students.

Media, Culture and Society in Milan

June 27- July 25, 2015

During this four-week study abroad course, students will travel to Milan, Italy and immerse themselves in Italian media and cinema to consider how it interrelates to culture and society as they experience it. Students attend lectures given in English by Italian faculty from the University of Milan on specific topics and then visit related sights in Italy. In-class course work is supplemented with tours to several other Italian cities where participants will learn about and experience Intercultural Communication, Renaissance Art, Fashion, Architecture, Commerce, and the Performing Arts with Dr. Cathy Wright. This year’s course will coincide with the Expo Milano 2015!

Earn 6 transfer credits per session by CHOOSING TWO classes from those offered by the American University of Rome. Potential course offerings include courses in: Art History, Cinema, Classics, Communication, Drawing, English, History, Italian language, Management, Marketing, Painting, Political Science 

Monumental Power: Mourning and Memory 

Summer 2015

Spend four weeks this summer looking at the connection between politics, culture, mourning and how mourning is memorialized in Washington D.C., Rome, Italy, and Athens, Greece. Participants earn 6 semester credits chosen from GOVT 490, GOVT 398, HNRS 240, CLAS 390, PHIL 391, HIST 398, ARTH 398, and ANTH 398.
